Where is Cumbia from?

I was surprised when I found out where Cumbia is from. Only because being Mexican you are raised hearing and dancing cumbia from an early age. But,  (drum roll ……) Cumbia originated in Colombia. It originated from a Fusion of sounds by Native Indians to the Coast of Colombia with the  African Beats brought in by the slaves that were sent there. This is where the magic sauce was put together to give us this amazing music called Cumbia.

And yes, All Latin America Countries love and enjoys this dance as if it was their own. It’s so popular that you just may miss out on loads and bunches of fun if you don’t do the dance. But don’t panic, I got you…lol I teach Cumbia Classes on the first of every month. It is an absolute beginner group class for the entire family. We break down every step to make the learning process as easy as it gets.
